A couple months ago, I came across a Listography Journal that immediately caught my attention. This book is perfect for anyone who loves writing down lists, including myself. There’s no denying that I just love making lists and having all of my cluttered thoughts stacked up in a neat pile on a piece of paper. I also find that writing down my musings and ideas in an organised way helps to reduce my anxiety considerably. This particular journal is filled with lists-prompts, with different topics for every day of the year. What makes it even more special though is that it is a three-year journal, which means that each year you can look back at your past lists and see how much you’ve changed along the way.

I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some of my favourite prompts that I’ve filled in so far and this way you can get to know me just a little bit as well. I would love to see what your choices would be in the comments 🙂 x

I would love to be reincarnated into…

  • A pine tree
  • Raven
  • A coffee cup
  • A bookmark

I have no interest in…

  • people who spend every waking moment of their lives gossiping
  • driving a car
  • politics

If I lost the ability to smell, I’d miss smelling…

  • coffee brewing
  • baking cake/bread
  • the smell of a new book

What I always need to remind myself…

  • stop letting yourself get upset over things that won’t matter in two years
  • do not allow your obsession with food and weight control your life. You are worth more than a number on the scales.
  • Calm down!

Book titles for my life right now…

  • The Inexplicable Logic of my Life
  • The heart’s Invisible Furies
  • The Year of Magical Thinking

If I were to get tattoos, I would get…

  • The sign of the Deathly Hallows
  • Minimalist leaves and tree branches
  • The cover of The Book Thief where Liesel and Death look like they are dancing
  • Cup and Crow tattoo of the Dregs from Six of Crows

Valuable lessons I’ve learned…

  • Always appreciate the simple things in life
  • Be happy NOW because tomorrow is never guaranteed
  • Worrying always leads to dead ends
  • Better to have few friends who love you, than to have many who don’t appreciate you
  • Speak less, listen more

Songs with special meaning…

  • Little Talks- Of Monsters and Men
  • Outro- M83
  • Bad Liar- Imagine Dragons
  • Up & Up- Coldplay
  • Take your Guess- Tom Rosenthal

Fictional Families I’d love to join…

  • The Weasleys
  • The Sargent family
  • The gang from Six of Crows because family is not always blood

Words that capture who I am not…

  • Confident
  • Ambitious
  • Adaptable

A perfect Sunday would include…

  • Lazy mornings snuggling in bed
  • Eating breakfast without the constant thought that I’m going to be late for work
  • Going for a walk in the afternoon while looking forward to a warm cup of tea and biscuits when I get back home
  • Watching reruns of my favourite series and dozing off halfway through it

  1. I love this! Especially your list of what you would want to be reincarnated as.
I have such an obsession with journals, and I have one that is full of lists too, of all of the things that calm my anxiety. It’s my ‘Tell me something good’ journal. 🙂

  2. I have a feeling that you and I are quite similar, Lucy, although I’m over double your age. I adore lists (also tea and dogs) and I’m so glad you highlighted this lovely journal. Incidentally, I very much like your reincarnation list, especially the idea of coming back as a raven. I have a family of ravens living in the trees around my house. They are such characters and so intelligent, but sadly their kind have become far less common in the UK these days. Happy journaling!

    1. Thank you so much Paula 🙂 I also adore tea and dogs so I guess in an alternate reality we are sisters 😀 Oh you are so lucky to have such wonderful creatures living so close to your home. Ravens are absolutely fascinating and with their dark plumage they look both elegant and mysterious ❤
