I’m going to be 27 years old next May and I can already feel a quarter-life crisis coming, especially when I remember all the things that I still want to do in my life! Time is going by way too fast for my own liking and sometimes I feel like there are so many things that I still want to do, but will I have time? Resources? What if something happens that I can’t control? What if I’m just not good enough? My mind is a ceaseless machine that is constantly spitting out lists of worries, worries that often hinder me from moving forward and take new opportunities. However, looking back at all the things I’ve managed to achieve these past couple of years, I feel hopeful for the future. Other people might not see it, but I managed to grow so much as a person and got to know myself better along the way, and that is what I consider my biggest achievement. It is on this positive note that I want to look at all the things that I want to experience in the coming years, not necessarily before 30, but hopefully in the near future. Also, I can never pass up any opportunity to make a list, and a long one at that!
Most of the things in this list are quite simple and straightforward and very few of them are what I would consider over the top, but they are experiences that will hopefully make me appreciate even more the simple things in life. I do not want to seek extravagance or wealth because I’m sure that they would destroy any semblance of clarity in my life. These are just some of the things that I would love to do in the coming years and I hope to start ticking items off the list from today!

☆ Start a journal and document my life in pictures, drawings and words
☆ Get married to my boyfriend of 9 years! Time passes quickly when you’re having fun 🙂
☆ Get our own place. Nothing big; just a small space where we can share our life together
☆ Have my own library, with a comfy couch and a window-seat
☆ Start drawing again
☆ Offer my help in an animal sanctuary
☆ Spend more than a month visiting different locations in England
☆ Also, visit London…again…and again…and again!
☆ Go on a London bookshop tour, and use that as an excuse to buy a book from every shop!
☆ Read War and Peace!
☆ Become an expert coffee-maker. This will not help my coffee-addiction at all…but oh well!
☆ Do a Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings film marathon with my friends
☆ Visit Amsterdam, specifically the Van Gogh museum
☆ Participate in a marathon
☆ Wake up early and watch the sun rise
☆ Go to an Imagine Dragons concert
☆ Have a neutral coloured wardrobe and spend less money on clothes
☆ Bake cakes and muffins for other people’s birthdays. Something sweet to show my appreciation for them
☆ Spend a couple of days camping in a forest
☆ Own a huge collection of classics, specifically the Penguin English Library editions, the Penguin Modern Classics and Persephone books
☆ Watch more films at the cinema
☆ Stop focusing on food, weight and calories and actually enjoy the food on my plate
☆ Visit more museums
☆ Start a masters degree on a subject that I actually love, not what people expect me to do
☆ Have more self-confidence and stop putting myself down
☆ Watch a meteor shower
☆ Learn how to use watercolours and practice regularly in my sketchbook
☆ See the Northern Lights!
☆ Go on more picnics with my family
☆ Declutter my life and live by the motto: less is more
