Bad days are a part of life. What makes them worse though is how you perceive them. If you spend said days constantly grumbling and complaining, then you will definitely miss the silver lining. I admit that I’m not the best person to deal with negative situations and there are days when even my incessant whining get on my nerves! So how do I deal with bad days? The thing that works best for me is to make a list of all the things that have recently made me smile. Looking back at these beautiful moments in my life make me realise that bad days are temporary, and if they seem like they’re here to stay, at least I have the power to unclench their control over me. You can either let an awful day get to you and spend it silently fuming or you can ditch the negativity and try to paint some colours over the seemingly black canvas. Easier said than done I know.
It’s been a Spring of ups and downs. I read some wonderful books, discovered new music, started working out again and spent many wonderful days in my favourite bookstores and coffeeshops. Work has been extremely stressful though, and still is, which is really not helping my anxiety at all. Top that with long bouts of extreme lack of creativity and inspiration, especially when it comes to photography, low self-esteem and worrying over the future. Let’s look on the bright side though. These are some of the things that made me smile this Spring:
> Working on some new sketches
> Reading (and enjoying) a classic that I’ve been meaning to read for years!
> Fresh vegetables from my dad’s garden
> Ali Smith’s recent book release: Spring [read it…it’s SO GOOD!]
> Celebrating Good Friday and Easter with my family
> My boyfriend spoiling me with a record player and loads of gorgeous items from Shakespeare and Company
> Celebrating my sister’s baby shower…less than 3 weeks to meet my nephew!!
> Rereading Harry Potter
> Afternoon sunlight streaming through my bedroom window
> A new Spring dress
