“And all at once, summer collapsed into fall.” -Oscar Wilde
My favourite season is finally here! Even though it is still stifling hot here, I instantly get in the mood for dark books, scary films and warm cups of coffee as soon as Autumn starts. I have already started buying trench coats and cosy sweaters and browsing pinterest for warm weather outfit inspirations! I’ve also started rewatching Harry Potter, partly to put me in the mood for Fall but also because I’ve been dealing with extreme anxiety and Harry Potter always puts my mind off things.
Here are some books that I’m intending to read this Fall. For some reason I tend to read more fantasy books as the weather gets colder, but this year I’ve also added some classics that I’ve been meaning to read for a long time. Hopefully I will finish The Goldfinch soon so I can start ticking books off this list!
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brönte
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente
Sleep No More by P.D. James
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
A Skinful of Shadows by Frances Hardinge
The Diviners by Libba Bray (reread)
The Secret History by Donna Tartt (reread)
Rewatching my favourite films and series is my absolute favourite thing to do on a cold Autumn afternoon. I am definitely looking forward to rewatch Stranger Things, especially the first season because it’s my absolute favourite and it always puts me in the mood for Fall. I cannot fail from mentioning Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas because Tim Burton is Autumn in human form. I also need to continue watching Gilmore Girls as well this year because apparently it’s a common habit of mine to start a series and never finish it!
I love making new playlists but I also love listening to my old ones as well: Harvest Moon, Firewood Smoke and Misty Mornings. I’ve also discovered this wonderful ASMR account on Youtube which has a Harry Potter inspired playlist. They are incredibly soothing and perfect for those days when everything feels overwhelming. My personal favourites are the Charms Classroom with the sound of rain falling and the pop of firewood, Hagrid’s Hut and Firenze’s Divination Classroom.
Things I’m looking forward to:
- A trip to London at the end of October, along with another visit to the Harry Potter Warner Bro Studio Tour!
- Staying in my favourite coffeeshop, with a good book and a cup of coffee and watching the rain falling outside.
- Baking treats for my family and friends. I want to learn how to properly bake an apple pie, pumpkin cake and scones!
- Cosy sweaters, boots and huge scarves ❤
- Going on hikes and taking pictures amongst riot colours of Fall
- Afternoon tea with my sister. We always end up eating too much and spending the rest of the day in a food coma and rubbing our stomachs!!
What are you looking forward to most this Fall? x
