III. London Snapshots – Covent Garden, Kings Cross

Covent Garden is one of my favourite places to visit in London, so we spent Saturday morning roaming the streets before breakfast. The dreary overcast sky can never take away the vibrant beauty of the place; it actually enhances it.  From the Covent Garden’s Apple Market, which offers a unique range of handmade items, to the gorgeous store fronts and lovely street entertainment, you could always find something new to discover.

Neal’s Yard is probably one of the most gorgeous brightly-coloured courtyard in London. Tucked away down a tiny side-street, it is quite easy to miss. My favourite restaurant to visit is 26 Grains, which serves the best hazelnut and butter porridge I’ve ever tasted!

After a hearty breakfast, my hands were itching to buy some books so we decided to take a walk around Bloomsbury in the West End of London and visit the lovely Persephone bookshop. Our walk led us to Brunswick Square Gardens, a pleasant quiet green space, perfect for relaxing and reading! We also glimpsed a couple of blue plaques, and I was truly excited to glimpse the ones dedicated to George Orwell and Virginia Woolf.

Next stop: St. Pancras Railway Station and Kings Cross Station. Sadly the Hogwarts Express had already left 😦 On the bright side, we had a lovely lunch at The Parcel Yard, a gorgeous pub at Kings Cross, followed by a visit to the Harry Potter shop at Platform 9 and 3/4 shop.
